The park promotes the preservation of endangered species, focusing on endangered and exotic cats. The zoo currently has close to 50 big cats plus several other creatures including parrots, reptiles, and more. Cat Tales is also home to the Zoological Training Center, which is the only school of its type in North America where students come to learn the profession of zookeeping. The zoo and school are located in Mead, just north of Spokane.
