The refuge covers about 3,600 acres on a part of the McNary Lock and Dam project on the Columbia River. One in a chain of refuges along the Pacific flyway, it is an important resting and feeding place for hundreds of thousands of migrating waterfowl.The refuge is open year round during daylight hours and provides an Environmental Education Center.
