Northport is a small, isolated community near the Canadian border, 25 miles north of Kettle Falls. Once known as one of the rowdiest mining camps in Washington, the town was destroyed by fire and rebuilt several times in it's history. LeRoi Smelter was constructed to refine the ore from the famous LeRoi Mine and others in the area. The original smokestack from the smelter still stands today. There is also a Northport, Alabama.
