The 30,180 acres of shrub and steppe upland habitat provide wintering for waterfowl and bald eagles and nesting Swainson's hawks. It is located within a nuclear reactor control zone and is managed through a permit agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy. It is closed to all public access.
