On the west side of the Cascade Mountains, the park lies along the Wallace River, Skykomish River, Wallace Lake, Jay Lake, and Shaw Lake. The park features hiking, nature study, tent camping, picnicking, rock climbing, freshwater fishing, berry picking, mushrooming, and mountain biking. There is also a 265-foot waterfall, as well as numerous smaller ones, within the park. The Washington State Parks system includes more than 125 developed parks and covers about a quarter million acres.
