Droop is traversed by the scenic portion of Hwy 55 and US 219 in Pocahontas County, which runs 86 miles between Huttonsville to the north and Lewisburg to the south in Eastern Region.
The city is rich with history including the last major Civil War battle fought here occurring in 1863. Many historic sites and museums are in the area with displays and exhibits. One of these places is the Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park.
