Located in Powell on the W bank of Clark's Fork River, 35 miles W of Cody, this hatchery provides an excellent view of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The hatchery was located in 1969 in a very convenient location--11 natural springs provide about ten million gallons of water per day to the facility. About 9,000 gallons flow through the facility every minute.
The fish species reared at Clark's Fork include rainbow trout, brown trout, Yellowstone cutthroat trout for brood stocking and planting, and Snake River cutthroat and grayling. Fishing locally is an option in the Clark's Fork River for trout and grayling.
