On September 19th, 1968, Secretary of State Stewart Udall announced the creation of the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range. The city of Lovell helped get the area set aside for the wild horses that inhabited the area. The wild horse range can be viewed from Devil Canyon Overlook, by standing on the overlook and looking down. The different breeds of horse include Barb, Arab, Sorraia, Tarpan, Andalusion, and more. Contact the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area Visitor Center for more information.
