Sheep Mountain is located within the Bighorn Basin, contrasting with the deeply cut badlands and red tinted soil. Many animals depend on this mountain and the area around it for food and habitat. The variety of wildlife includes wild horses, bobcats and bighorn sheep, as well as many hawks, falcons, grouse, and roosting bald eagles.
